Among the many Masonic jewels we come across, few tell their story quite as clearly as this one.

This is a traditional Mark Master Mason breast jewel, worn by men who have taken the next step beyond the three Craft degrees and been advanced in the Mark Degree. While the main Craft degrees focus on moral lessons through the building of King Solomon’s Temple, the Mark Degree takes the story further — focusing on the skilled stonemasons who worked on the Temple and the importance of every individual’s contribution.

The crossed mallet and chisel on the ribbon are the working tools of the degree. They represent the careful, patient work of shaping rough stone into something strong and useful — a powerful symbol of personal improvement and craftsmanship.

Hanging below is the white stone keystone. One side carries the brother’s personal Mark — the unique symbol he chose for himself when he joined the degree. The reverse side is also engraved and contains details relating to his advancement, though these are no longer clearly readable. Together, the two sides of the keystone represent both who he was within the lodge and the moment he became a Mark Master Mason.

Mounted on its original maroon and light blue ribbon with ornate bars, this jewel would have been worn with quiet pride on a brother’s Masonic clothing.

A genuine and characterful example of Mark Degree regalia with real presence.
