Rooted in the beautiful landscapes of North Yorkshire, our small team of passionate collectors met through a mutual obsession — metal detecting. There's nothing quite like pulling something remarkable from the earth and wondering about the story behind it. That same sense of discovery and wonder runs through every single item in our shop. Chris — Creator & The Brains Behind the Magic
Chris built Novel Relics from scratch — though he'd probably be the last person to make a big deal of it. A lover of history, an enthusiastic metal detectorist and someone who just can't resist an interesting find, he created this little shop as a place where like-minded people could discover something genuinely special. If something's working on the site, that's Chris. If something's broken, that's probably also Chris.
Kat — Chief Treasure Hunter & Creative Soul
Kat has a gift that's almost impossible to teach — she walks into a room full of things and spots the one piece that everyone else has walked straight past. Her eye for beauty, rarity and hidden potential is extraordinary. Add to that a wonderful creative streak, and you have someone who doesn't just find treasures — she sees their full story before anyone else does. Kat's Kreations is her own little corner of the shop, filled with pieces that are uniquely, unmistakably her.
Tom — Coins, History & the Thrill of the Hunt
If it's old, metallic and buried somewhere in the North Yorkshire soil, chances are Tom has already found it. A passionate metal detectorist and the team's resident coin expert, Tom has spent years developing an encyclopaedic knowledge of historical coinage — from Roman denarii to Victorian pennies. His deep love of history shines through every piece in Tom's Titbits, where each find comes with the kind of story only a true enthusiast can tell.
Caylam — Curator of the Unexpected
Caylam's love of history started the same way as the rest of the team's — boots on the ground, detector in hand, somewhere in the gorgeous North Yorkshire countryside. With a keen eye for the curious and the unexpected, Caylam has a wonderful instinct for finding pieces that stop you in your tracks. Step into Caylam's Corner and you'll find treasures that are charming, surprising and completely one of a kind — just like the man himself.
