Not every Masonic jewel follows the familiar round form. This substantial triangular example has real presence the moment you see it.
The bold V-shape immediately sets it apart from standard Royal Arch Companion jewels. Combined with the smaller square pendant that hangs below, it marks this out as an officer or Past Master style jewel, most likely from the Royal Arch or Mark Master Mason degrees.
At the centre of the hanging square is a beautifully detailed Tabernacle — the portable tent temple used by the Israelites in the wilderness. This is one of the most important and symbolic elements in Royal Arch Masonry, representing the temporary sanctuary erected during the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem. The quality of the engraving and the ornate borders show this was made with genuine care.
Jewels of this size and distinctive shape were usually worn by men who had taken on meaningful roles within their Chapter or Mark Lodge. The solid silver construction and the clarity of the tabernacle symbol suggest it was a piece its owner wore with pride.
It carries a lovely natural patina from years of careful use, with no maker’s mark visible.
A striking and less commonly seen style of Masonic jewel that stands out beautifully in any collection.
