Roald Dahl — Complete Tales of the Unexpected — Folio Society Edition

Illustrated by Helen Smithson | 2002 Second Printing | Fine Condition

Nearly fifty of Roald Dahl's finest adult stories gathered into one magnificent volume — and presented by the Folio Society in a edition that does full justice to the genius of the man.

This is Dahl at his most brilliantly unsettling. Drawing from Kiss Kiss, Someone Like You, Switch Bitch, Over to You and eight additional tales, the collection showcases everything that made him one of the most distinctive voices in twentieth century fiction: the dark wit, the razor sharp twist, the deeply uncomfortable feeling that you simply cannot stop reading. Lamb to the Slaughter. The Landlady. Poison. The Way Up to Heaven. Stories that burrow under the skin and refuse to leave.

The Folio Society edition is a handsome thing. The distinctive pale yellow snakeskin patterned cloth binding with red accents is immediately recognisable and the volume runs to a generous 768 pages — illustrated throughout with atmospheric plates and line drawings by Helen Smithson. It sits in a sturdy matching slipcase and has a pleasing heft to it that paperback collections simply cannot match.

Condition: Fine throughout. Pages clean and bright with no foxing, marks or inscriptions. Binding tight and vibrant with minimal shelf wear. Slipcase solid with only light rubbing consistent with careful storage. A very well preserved example.

About this edition: The 2002 second printing is increasingly sought after by collectors — particularly in this condition. If you enjoy Dahl's adult fiction or are building a Folio Society collection, this is a volume you will not want to miss.
