A charming pair of handmade treenware wine bottle stoppers, carved from richly figured burl wood with that unmistakable wild grain and warm patina of age. One features a perforated dome head (small drilled holes in a pleasing pattern for easier insertion and subtle aeration), the other a smooth, swirling burl oval top — both turned by skilled hands, topped with natural cork bases that fit standard necks snugly.

These speak to the golden age of domestic barware: late Victorian or Edwardian (circa 1890–1920), when burl wood was favoured for its natural luxury and woodturners crafted everyday items with artistry. The perforated example is a clever detail — practical for smooth stoppering and rare among survivors. Perfect for sealing a bottle of port or claret with style, or simply as decorative curios that catch the light on a shelf. Small wonders that tell a story of fireside evenings and thoughtful craftsmanship.

Physically compact and tactile: solid burl throughout with deep figuring; turned handles (bulbous/perforated and oval); original corks (aged but intact); hand-polished finish showing gentle use.

Condition is very good with authentic character: burl retains vivid grain and patina; no significant damage, chips, or repairs; corks dry/cracked as expected from age but secure; surfaces clean with minor handling marks that add charm. A lovely, honest pair ready for display or gentle use.

About this pair: Vintage burl treen stoppers are collectable for their simplicity and wood quality — the perforated one adds interest, while the matching burl theme makes them a cohesive set. Ideal companions to other bar relics or curious finds; from our small team's personally sourced treasures in North Yorkshire.
